Is NordicScan medical advice?
No. NordicScan provides informational insights to support shopping decisions. It’s not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
What does “ultra‑processed” mean in NordicScan?
NordicScan can provide an ultra‑processed Yes/No answer and a 4‑level (NOVA‑aligned) processing category when it has enough ingredient evidence. If data is missing or ambiguous, NordicScan may show “Can’t tell”.
How do recall checks work?
When possible, NordicScan compares a scanned barcode against recalled product data and surfaces a clear status. Availability varies by region and data source coverage. Always follow official recall notices and retailer guidance.
What are the 120+ tags?
Tags are searchable and filterable labels that describe ingredients, additives, dietary preferences, allergens, and other concerns (for example: “Gluten‑free”, “Keto‑friendly”, “Artificial flavors”, “Gut Sensitivity”).
Do you cover every product?
Coverage depends on barcode databases and label availability. Some barcodes may not have complete ingredient details. When evidence is missing, NordicScan is designed to be transparent about limitations.
Is the score a “health score”?
NordicScan’s score is intended for comparing products quickly and understanding product attributes. It’s informational and should not be treated as medical advice.
Why do I sometimes see “Can’t tell”?
NordicScan may show “Can’t tell” when a label ingredient list is missing, incomplete, or too ambiguous to classify responsibly. This is intended to avoid confident‑sounding guesses.
Do you store my scans?

Is NordicScan free?
